But by stripping away the subtitle, the filmmakers have restored mystery. Will Rebel save her daughter? Will she kill her? Will the film end with Rebel realizing that the cycle of violence is itself the enemy? We don’t know. And that is terrifying and exhilarating. The Return of Rebel (as we critics are forced to call it for clarity) hits theaters this November.
